unavoidedcrisis: girl lying on the ground with playing cards scattered over her (wtf -> lazer kitty)
Bean and I finished the draft for our AU Big Bang fic. I can honestly say I have never been more excited for something I helped create in a long time. So it's got to be beta'd and then a few more edits, but then it's going to be DONE and it will have art and awesomeness and man pain.

In other news, I might have strep throat. First time in 2010 and it's April. That's actually a pretty good record. I haven't had any major illness yet this year. Go me and my shitty immune system.

This morning, Katie, Adam and I drove up to Sudbury. And I got a gecko. Yeeeeeah! She is actually a he, so my perfect name was dashed to pieces. And he's not a regular morph; he's actually a lot lighter. I think he is a very handsome fellow. He has a purple tail!

He actually likes being handled, which is cool. And you're holding him, he likes to lick the heck out of you. Right now, he's hunting some crickers. He's very ferocious.

So I'm super stoked about this. He desperately needs a name, of course. I like Leoben (a la Battlestar Galactica) or Clarence. His middle name will be Pepperoni because that is a kickass middle name. Thoughts?

After almost three weeks apart, Freddy got home this morning. I intend to cuddle him for hours.

K, I'm in full WARDROBE PANIC mode. Half of my clothes are green it seems, so why do I not have a single green tank top (here, anyways). I need something to go with my abandonment emeralds* that I'm wearing to the party tonight. This is ridiculous. Also, my hair won't curl. Damn it all...

Hung out with Brendan and Sarah last night which was excellent and awesome. We watched music videos and talked fandom and they forced me to watch the scariest episode(s) of Dr Who they could find. Okay, considering I've only ever seen 2 episodes and they were both terrifying beyond all reason, I am not feeling overly compelled to watch any more. I don't liiiiike scary things! *whines* K, maybe I'm lying. That Doctor fellow was freakin' hilarious. BUT STILL. Freddy will watch with me because he likes sci-fi and he doesn't like when I get too scared, but he's going to get very short at me about the accents. He's a teensy bit racist.

OH. Speaking of unnecessary discrimination against things that are awesome...

A little bird wrote me some Sassy fic for Christmas and I went pretty spastic over that this morning and then recc'd everything she's ever written (literally).

So happy winter and all that :D

K GUYS, I have 3 ficmixes to do ritenao so I'm going. K, bye.

So I am visiting the family down south for the next six or so days. Leaving tomorrow morning and I have everything packed up save for Freddy, the laptop and my toothbrush.

Going to Durham used to feel like a trip home, now it feels just like leaving home. I wonder sometimes how and/or when that changed. When did North Bay become home. Strange feelings, I tell you.

It's be nice to see the family for the first time in 2009. And the weather will be a little milder than normal. Bringing the camera. Shall bring back plenty of pictures of dogs, I think. And I'll have time to finish A Storm of Swords and hopefully move on to the next one (fifth book in the Song of Ice and Fire series expected to be released 09/29/2009!). Reading and mauled by dogs... Yes, sounds like my childhood.

Hoping to see some of the old friends. Not sure if the old friends want to see me, though. I have recently been getting the impression I am being avoided. I have yet to face the important question of - do I care anymore?

In other news!

There is no other news, really. I'm halfway through season three of Battlestar Galactica and it's killing me with the awesomeness. I think I'm going to make thank-you cards for all my friends who recommended it. Seriously, if you haven't seen it, I can't impress upon you enough the greatness of this series. ! I will go right now and find an awesome BSG icon to wow you all with. Wait here.

WHOA.

Okay, so I watched the Battlestar Galactica mini series today. I was hoping to enjoy it, but it actually kind of blew my mind. Freddy and I watched the first four episodes after the mini series (a mini-marathon, we spent nearly seven hours of our day in space!). It's good. Sci-fi, sure, but also a character drama, which I am such a sucker for.

Hopefully another five or so episodes tomorrow and the other four or so on Saturday night after work, and I shall be ready for season two.

Obviously it's not my favourite set-in-space show, because there are no Chinese swear words, dinosaurs or very fine hats (which should be in every set-in-space show. Nay! Every show period). But it's not my least favourite either (ew, DS9).

I plan to spend many a happy hour watching the rest of this all unfold. And I barely have to wait because there series is almost over and I can just catch it all on dvd. ^__^
