Katie was on a course in South River today, so I was home alone.

Me.

Alone.

All day.

Messy, messy shelf. Books are piled everywhere, sometimes two deep, I think there's a feral moongoose in the back there somewhere... It's book-related anarchy up in here!

And these are all the books that for one reason or another are not currently associated with the madness on the shelf (probably because I was recently reading them).

This is the after shot of the shelf. I do not think I could slip a hair between any two of the books on the shelf right now, but...

None of these books fit. Most of them are oversized and that's why, but I think it's also a little bit because the universe hates me.

So I improvised! Yes, it's tacky, no, it's not a permanent solution, yes, the dates on these photos are way off, yes, I typed 'moongoose' up there and enjoyed it so much I didn't change it. I'm only human, and by this point it was getting way too hot on the landing, so this is how I finished it.

And that's what I did today. This is only about 2/3 of my collection; the rest still live at my mother's house. Along with my two tallllllllllll Billy-style Ikea book cases which I frickin absolutely wish I had here, but would have no place to put them. But in the time between right now and when I one day live in a place big enough to have a room specifically for my books, I have milk crates, right? I've also appropriated a shoe box (which I will now decorate and show pictures to you later!) to house my zine library. It will sit precariously atop my flash milk crate shelves. There's a possibility it will have a dinosaur on it.

Right this second, I am eating a salad. Life is good.

YOUR COLLECTION *__*

As for your milk crate self: Whatever works? I have books hidden in little cubbies on my desk and luckily my TV stand has shelves, because I have books there, too. And this after buying a new, big and tall bookcase.

YAY BOOKS! A lot of them look like school books...
And lol at the milk crates. Dude that's way more organization than I have. I've just got stacks and stacks under a four legged table. If it moves, books tumble.

I cannot tell you how excited I am that you have a copy of The Tomb.

I heart Repairman Jack.

As long as I'm being honest, I haven't actually read that one yet. *shifty eyes*

DUDE. Repairman Jack is made of awesome (as most people named 'Jack' are). I highly recommend it.

But I don't judge you. One of the perks/downfalls of working for Chapters is that my own personal library is expanding faster than I can devour new books.

This looks very similar to my apartment. At least the milk crate one does.

What I do for books too tall and too thin to really do anything with (like your illustrated fairy tales book) is put them on the side & let the short books piggy back on them.

But yeah, my bookshelves are two deep, too. I really need to reorganize them - and open the boxes of unpacked books I still have upstairs.

(Dude, I have like half the books on your shelf on my shelf. How'd you like Wicked?)

I tried that with the oversize books, but it did not work for me. Too many of them, I guess. It doesn't help that the shelves are freakin' short.

Wicked was pretty fucking rad. Definitely one I have read more than once all the way through (more than 3 or 4 times, actually). Haven't found time to finish Son of a Witch yet though...
